Each lesson takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Big idea
A push or pull can change an object’s motion.
Words
- push move away with force
- pull draw toward you with force
- move change place
- stop no longer move
Talk together
- Which action is a push?
- Which is a pull?
- What happened when you stopped it?
Get ready
- Soft ball, toy cart with short wide ribbon and s3-motion cards; clear level floor.
Safety
- Roll a soft ball on a clear floor away from stairs, doors and people; never throw it. Short strings stay on the table, never around a body.

How to help
Let your child listen, look and try before you explain. Point to the next picture if needed. Accept drawing, pointing or a voice response; writing is optional. Save the child’s own work with a date. Ask for a clue from the picture, source or test instead of supplying an answer. Notice what changed after your child tried the task.
